We all make mistakes but airlines are best at learning from them

The search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 goes on. According to Angus Houston, the retired Australian air force officer co-ordinating the hunt, it could take two years to locate the wreckage. The phrase of choice is “guarded optimism”, but one thing is certain: if and when the mission finally succeeds, even if the black box recorders aren’t found, lessons will be learned.
