Editor’s note: This report has to be a wake-up call for all organisations. Research suggests that managers, rather than helping alleviate stress in the workplace, are contributing to it. That is probably not new news but it shocking nonetheless. The research shows managers are not being supported so that they can in turn better support their teams.

Editor’s note: This research provides some examples of how organisations are enhancing the employee experience in order to retain employees. For example, Deutsche Telekom in the UK allows employees to use 20% of their time to work on projects that sit outside of their core role.

Editor’s note: This analysis of LinkedIn Learning’s latest research throws up many reasons to be cheerful about digital learning. It also features an interesting slide on the benefits of learning more (called heavy learners on the slide) versus ‘light’ learners. Heavy learners, for example, are 21% more likely to feel confident in their work versus light learners as well as 47% less likely to be stressed at work.

Editor’s note: This article provides some highlights from LinkedIn Learning’s latest study into learning trends based on the responses of 1,200 L&D professionals. More budget and a shift to online seem like the main trends as is the role of managers to enable learning. Is this news? Perhaps a good reminder of what peers are working on.`

Editor’s note: This is a great read. Full of data and tips to help find and share obvious insights. As the author says, “I was wrong to place such a high premium on the unexpected. Findings don’t have to be earth-shattering to be useful. In fact, I’ve come to believe that in many workplaces, obvious insights are the most powerful forces for change.”

Editor’s note: Learning analysts Fosway Group this week launched their research into the learning technology landscape. With around 800 responses from L&D professionals, this provides some useful insights especially if you are looking to procure learning technologies. A stand out stat from me is that 50% of respondents say they are not satisfied with their learning technologies.

Editor’s note: Are L&Ders as guilty as marketers in that they spend too much time on emergent tools at the expense of established ones? Ahead of Learning Technologies 2019, this is an important message. Buyers beware!
